xAI's pricing page shows the Free, SuperGrok, and SuperGrok Plus prices directly. The Lite and Heavy prices in the table are the widely reported launch prices. Check the price on the checkout screen before you pay. The pricing page lists priority access at peak times as a SuperGrok Plus feature and does not say whether Heavy includes it, although Heavy sits above Plus.
What You Get for Free
Grok's free plan is more capable than many people expect. You can use it on grok.com, in the iOS and Android apps, and inside X.
- Grok 4.6, the same model paid users get, within free limits.
- Chat, voice mode, and image generation with Grok Imagine.
- Limited real-time search of the web and X. This is Grok's main difference from other assistants: it can see what people are posting on X right now.
- Connectors to apps like Google Drive and Gmail.
- Grok Build, xAI's coding tool.
- File uploads, including PDFs, spreadsheets, images, audio, and video.
What is missing on Free
- No Expert mode. This is the slower, deeper reasoning mode for hard questions.
- No video generation.
- No Grok Bot, xAI's AI teammates that work in the background.
- Lower limits. xAI does not publish exact numbers for the free plan. The app tells you when you reach a limit.
For quick questions, news checks, and light writing help, Free is enough for many people.
How Paid Limits Work
Since June 2026, paid Grok plans use one shared weekly usage pool. You no longer get separate daily limits for Chat, Imagine, Voice, and Build. You spend the pool however you want.
- Different actions cost different amounts. A chat message uses little. A high-quality video or a long coding task uses much more.
- You can see your usage in Settings > Usage, broken down by product, with your weekly reset time.
- When you use up the pool, paid features pause until the reset. You still keep the free tier limits for Chat and Voice.
- You can buy Extra Usage Credits on the web, starting at $5, or turn on Auto Top Up. xAI notes that credits cost more per action than the usage included in your plan, so upgrading is better value if you run out often.
Grok Bot has its own usage, separate from this weekly pool, so tasks you hand to a Bot do not use up your chat allowance.
SuperGrok Lite: The Cheap Step Up
SuperGrok Lite was announced in March 2026 at a reported $10/month. xAI's comparison table shows it adds Expert mode, video generation, and full real-time search over the free plan. It does not include Grok Bot.
Lite fits people who hit the free limits now and then, or who want to try video generation without paying $30.
SuperGrok: The Main Paid Plan
SuperGrok costs $30/month. xAI describes it as "higher rate limits and access to frontier models."
- Higher limits across all features, using the weekly pool.
- Expert mode for harder reasoning tasks.
- Image and video generation.
- Grok Bot access. Since August 26, 2026, Grok Bot is included with SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, and SuperGrok Heavy. Bots are AI teammates with their own cloud computer. They can sign into your apps, run tasks in the background, and ask you before important steps.
- Multi-agent answers. xAI's Grok page lists multi-agent reasoning, where several agents work on parts of a hard question, as part of SuperGrok.

SuperGrok Plus and Heavy: For Heavy Users
SuperGrok Plus ($100/month) adds:
- Significantly higher usage across Chat, Imagine, Voice, and Build.
- 1080p video creation.
- Faster replies and priority access at peak times.
- Early access to new features.
SuperGrok Heavy (reported at $300/month) is the top individual plan. The pricing table shows it includes everything above plus priority support. It is meant for people who use Grok all day for work, especially heavy video or coding use.
Most people will never need either plan. Upgrade only if you run out of the SuperGrok pool every week and extra credits cost more than the next tier.
Grok Through X Premium
You can also get Grok through an X subscription. According to X's help center:

- You use Grok a few times a day for questions, news, or short writing.
- You do not need video generation or Expert mode.
- You already pay for another AI assistant.
- You rarely see a limit message.
Try SuperGrok Lite if
- You hit the free limits sometimes and want more room for little money.
- You want Expert mode or basic video generation.
Pay for SuperGrok ($30) if
- You use Grok every day and hit the limits often.
