How certificates work

Finish every lesson in a course and pass its final exam with 70% or higher. You then get a certificate for free. You do not pay for the course, the exam or the certificate.

How to earn a certificate

  1. 1

Create a free account with your email or Google. Your progress only saves while you are signed in.

  2. 2

    Finish every lesson

At the end of each lesson, click Next. On the last lesson, click Complete Lesson. The course page shows your progress.

  3. 3

    Take the final exam

The exam unlocks at 100% progress. It is multiple choice, has no time limit, and you can retake it as many times as you need.

  4. 4

    Score 70% or higher

Your certificate is ready as soon as you pass. Open it from the result screen or from the course page.

Is it free?

Yes. Every course, lesson, final exam and certificate is free. You do not need a credit card. Download and print are free too.

Premium is an optional subscription. It removes ads, gives Byte a higher daily question limit, and shows your certificates in a dark gold design. It does not unlock any course, exam or certificate. See what Premium adds.

Find and download it

Open the course page and click Get Certificate. You can also go to My Learning and open the Certificates tab. It lists every certificate you have earned.

On your certificate, click Download (PDF) or Print. The buttons turn on once the certificate has finished loading.

Your certificate shows the name on your account. To change it, edit your first and last name on your Account page and open the certificate again.

Verify a certificate

Every certificate has a unique number, like FA-2026-PE-K3X9QZ, and a QR code. Anyone can scan the QR code or type the number on the verify page. It shows the learner's name, the course and the date.

This is how an employer or teacher can check that your certificate is real.

Add it to LinkedIn

Open your certificate. There are two LinkedIn buttons.

  • Add to LinkedIn profile opens the Licenses and certifications form with the course name, FreeAcademy, the issue date, the credential ID and the verify link filled in. Check the details and click Save.
  • Share on LinkedIn opens a post about your certificate. The post text is copied for you. If LinkedIn opens an empty post, paste it in.

You can also share it on WhatsApp or copy the link.

My certificate does not show up

Check these three things, in this order.

  1. You are signed in to the same account you studied with. Certificates belong to one account.
  2. The course page shows 100% progress. Lessons you read while signed out do not count. Open any missing lesson and click Next.
  3. You passed the final exam with 70% or higher. If you finished the lessons but not the exam, your certificate page shows a Take the final exam button.

Still stuck? Email hello@freeacademy.ai with the course name.

Certificates and roadmap badges

A certificate is for one course. A roadmap is a set of courses in a fixed order. When you finish every course in a roadmap, lessons and final exam included, you earn that roadmap's badge.

The badge has its own number and public page. You keep each course certificate as well.
